A New Year & a New Challenge

For a while now learning scripture has been on my heart and so I am going to continue trying to do so. I have done it with Beth Moore-I did miss the last 2 weeks and well I am just not going to beat myself up about it. That is one of my New Year changes I am making. Anywho, on to the challenge. I read this blog She Sparkles and she is doing an A to Z Memory Scripture Verse challenge and so I am joining in. I figure I will learn some new scriptures and will have them hidden in my heart and that will only make me better at knowing God's Word!

Day 30

I have done this 30 Days the last couple of years along with my friend Conny. I am always amazed at how fast it goes.
I have enjoyed participating-I know some of my post may have been on the frivolous or even selfish side but as I sit here and think about all that I have-I really am just thankful.
I have a great husband who I love more today even though he drives me crazy. lol I have 3 pretty darn good kids who are starting to not be kids & that is kind of cool and weird all rolled into one. I have a nice comfortable home-plenty to eat. I have some cool friends who like me! I attend a great church! I work for a pretty neat lady! I serve an AWESOME God! My life is really good! Don't get me wrong it has it's fair share of heartbreak but overall I really am just blessed and that makes me thankful.

Today I am thankful that I got to spend a couple of hours with my college girl-Chelsea. I met some more of her friends, where she works, the boy she likes and we got to attend her Bible Study. I will have to give the lesson some serious thought-it was interesting. I had a good time!

Today I am thankful that I got to go to the Advent by Candlelight for Women @ FUMC with Jordan who asked me to go. Last year she & Chelsea went and had a wonderful time and so I was thrilled when she asked me to go(you have to be invited). What a beautiful way to start off the Advent Season. The theme this year was "A Baby Changes Everything"it was just wonderful-the music and the talks-candlelight! WOW! Not only did I get to hang with one of my girls but I got to hang with many of my friends and Jordan also asked Julie to go and well everyone knows how I feel about her-she loves me and my kids! :) Doesn't get any better than that!!! I am truly blessed girl!!

Today I am thankful for being able to go shopping on Black Friday with Big Lonnie. Got a few things out of the way for Christmas for the kids!

the most thankful thing is that our bank stopped some not so lovely people from using the Man's card in Vegas! People who do this makes me mad-get your own but since this is a thankful post I will just leave it at that!

Today I am thankful for my church family! Today while sitting up with the Pastors-I was subbing for the Liturgist-I kept looking at the families who were there and I felt just an awesome peace about being there and being part of the body.It is hard to believe that we have been there for 3 years and our family has just settled in so nicely. They love us-ALL of us!! We joke around and even cry and maybe even get a little bent of shape but yet they still love us. I love how everyone will pray for you when asked and truth be told I believe they are praying for you even when you haven't asked for it. :) God is good!! :)

I meant to do yesterdays before leaving to attend the HS football game 4 hours away from home but was busy & still haven't figured out how to post from my phone. lol

#18 I am thankful that we made it to and from the game safely. It was a lot of fun to watch the Boys play even though they lost. I have been really into HS football this year! I am sure it doesn't have anything to do with a certain Freshman boy. lol

#19 I am thankful for the sleep that came at 5am from traveling from #18. Also for going to the Santa Market on base & seeing our Navy friends and giving the wife a Prayer Shawl-she is not doing well in the health department and we are worried about her and her husband. They have been married a long time.

Today I am thankful for being able to go back to bed after waking up kids for school and sleep until I wanted to get up or until I got a text msg from JcPenny's telling me of a sale. LOL!!!
Also I am thankful that I was finally able to clean the front of the house-man it was sooooooo not good!
All I have left to do is our room and the bathroom but I am thinking that it can wait until the weekend. :)

Today I am thankful for having the ability to take & pick up the Boy from camp in Austin. Yes it was a lot of driving and gas but he enjoyed seeing his friends and helping out and in the end that is all that matters.
As a side note-he drove the whole way down until we got to some construction & traffic and his mother flipped out and then today he drove home. I am thankful that he is a pretty good driver & the last one I will have to teach! LOL!!! :)

Today I am thankful for spending the whole day with Lonnie! We slept in-since we got in late. Then we got up and got ready and ran errands. Ate lunch-grocery shopped! Visited some friends-got to shop at the Grace Market at church-went to the new Marshall's that opened this week-went out to dinner. We got to hear that the Cats won(that is the High School football team)! We had just a good day!!!! I am so lucky that Lonnie for the most part will go with me to do the things I love to do! :)

Today I was going to say I was thankful for sleeping in(after waking kids for school) and then it was for walking with my good friend Julie but then I got a call about the little old lady I work for and she is in the hospital. While I am still thankful for those things-sleeping & walking I wanted to say that today I am most thankful that Mrs. C called the ambulance for herself & went to the hospital. She normally fights that type of stuff but this past week I have been "scolding" her a bit about going if she needs to because that is what its for or her calling the nurse to come and see her. So, even though I "work" for Mrs. C-I am thankful for our friendship. She is such an awesome person and when I grow up I want to be just like her.

Today I am thankful for my Life Group! We are a eclectic group! We are all in different ages & stages of life but I LOVE it! We meet once a month at someones house. We share a meal-the host home prepares the main dish , drinks and a small devotion and the others bring the side dishes. We have a good time just talking & eating and fellowship that the couple of hours we are together go by pretty fast! In December we do a Progressive Dinner & then we sing carols! Fun!Fun!!

Tonight we had Santa Fe Stew-YUM!!!!!! :) I made the dessert-it to was yummy & I am going to share it!

Cake Mix + Canned Pure Pumpkin

Yes it is 1:22AM and so this is going to be early for once! I still haven't figured out how to do it on my phone. lol
Anywho, we are leaving in the morning-later than this to go to Jordan's "last" football game of the regular season-not sure if we will make it to the play-off games or not. So we wanted to go & support our favorite"water girl" aka a Trainer(LOL)

Today I am thankful that even though the drive will be long that we are able to do it & it should be fun!! We are all going or I should say 3 of us are going + the Boy's friend to support Jordan & the Cats!!!!! I think the Boy is most excited about missing school! lol :)

Also,I am thankful that Big Lonnie got the chance to see the Boy play yesterday since the next time he sees it the Boy will be a Junior(he's a Freshman this year) and that he will get to see his Girl before she graduates and flies the coop like the big Sister! :)

Guess I will now go to sleep for a few hours and get this started!!!

Today I am thankful that I got out of my nice warm comfortable bed and went for my 60 minute walk. I wasn't able to last night-the wind was just to wicked! Since the middle of June I have been walking just about every single day(60 min) and I hate to admit but when I don't get to do it-I miss it!

While walking this morning-it was a little nippy out-so glad I wore sweat pants-may need to wear gloves next time-my hands were cold- with my i-pod I was able to walk and think and pray and some things that have been on my heart and mind were put to "rest"! What an awesome feeling!

Today I am thankful for my Morning Bible Study girls. They are truly a blessing to me and my whole family. There is a small group of us that get together before BS to do the Prayer Shawl ministry and then we stay for the larger group. It really is one of my favorite things to do and when we don't meet I miss them so.
And I am thankful for "Gathering" it is held once a month and it is a great way to end my day. It is a large group of other believers who attend a wide variety of churches but get together to be the body of Christ!! AWESOME!!!

Twenty Years

I can't believe that 20 years ago I got married! We were two young kids who thought we knew what we were doing! LOL Turns out we did!!! We have "made" it!!! No one thought we would-I mean really. Some thought only 6 months! Well it has been one heck of a 6 months! lol

I really am blessed to be loved by someone like my husband. He is such a quiet, thoughtful man. He is calm and collected. In fact he is my total opposite. I am loud and crazy and fly off the handle and then calm down but together we are a good team!!! The past 20 years have been a crazy ride and I am so looking forward to the next 20+!!!! I know as long as we hold on to each other we will be fine!!!

I LOVE you Lonnie more today then yesterday and will love you even more tomorrow!!!!!!!

Show Us Your Life-Marriage Advice

This is a picture of Lonnie & I are on our wedding day-this coming Wednesday, July 27 we will be celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary! Hang on......

OMG!!! Can you believe it? Me either!!! LOL Just kidding!! But to be honest a lot of people only gave us 6 months! We sure did fool them.

So, on to advice... Let me say marriage is hard work-flat out one of the hardest things I have ever done and that includes having babies. When we got married our Pastor gave us the best advice and truth be told if more marriages did it there wouldn't be so many divorces. He said in a marriage you have to give 100% because at some point one of you will not be able to-life just has a way of getting in the way. He went on to say that today I may be giving 100 and the next would be Lonnie and so that on any given day someone is giving 100% in the relationship. He said 50-50 never works you have to give the full amount. At first I thought he was crazy but as we put it in to practice he was & still is right! Lonnie & I are a team and when we are both giving 100% we are on fire but even when one of us can't for whatever reason I know that Lonnie has my back and that gives me the time/rest whatever to get back to the 100% and he knows the same!

This was our first Christmas in Hawaii! We were babies!!! LOL

I love this man more today then I did back then and I am so blessed to have a man who loves me-flaws & all!

Oh my what a question! I almost hate to admit it-nahhhhhh I love TV. I grew up with it always on & truth be told it is still pretty much that way. It is background noise

I love reality shows & sitcoms & dramas and well just about everything. I don't always sit and watch-it is on DVR and I usually am doing something else while its on.

As for why I like them-it is just stuff I don't have to think about for a while. It is all made up and it hurts no one & gives me a chance to just not think. Does that make sense? Well it does to me.

The Bible-I may not understand it but it gives me comfort that God's promises are there for me.
My husband Lonnie-he is a GREAT husband & father and I am truly blessed to have him love me.
My kids: Chelsea, Jordan & Lonnie aka "The Boy!" They drive me crazy but I LOVE them so.
My church family-they are the bestest! They love me flaws & all.
Chocolate-when I need a little pick me up it really does help.
Green-green grass and if it is soft to-Oh my I am just over the moon.
Not to sound selfish but A/C! I live in Texas and it gets hot-crazy hot but I am thankful for it.
My puppies-they really are like children only furry but they are pretty darn cool.
That I am breathing-life is good. It may not be 100% perfect but if you are breathing you should be thankful-it beats the alternative.

Well for starters I am me-just me. You either love me or hate but there really isn't any middle ground. I tend to see both sides of an issue so I call my self a fence sitter. I am loyal to those who I love. I get angry quickly then think about it. Working on that. I don't forget things-so I know the good and the not so good. I have "issues" but that is what makes me-ME!
